The Prime Minister was happy to see that both RwandAir and Akagera Aviation have improved aircraft operations and management. RwandAir taken delivery of two brand new B737-800s, last year, while Akagera Aviation added two brand new Augusta helicopters in 2010.

About RwandAir, he wishes that the airline adds more destinations, improves its customer service and expands its cargo capacity.

Then, he has visited the Kigali International Airport, where he had a conversation with Dr Richard Masozera the Director General of the Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority, about  future projects.

Masozera  revealed that the expansion at Kigali International airport will start in two months and be completed in 15 months. The new  terminal at the Kamembe International Airport will be finished in July of this year, while the runway expansion is in its preliminary stages.

On Bugesera International Airport project, Alexis Nzahabwanimana, the Minister of State for transport said that the project is well underway and a valuation study is in its final stages and expropriation exercise is yet to be completed in a period of two months.

The Governement of Rwanda revealed, last week, that it wants to develop the aviation sector to reach new markets, to avoid that the Rwandan economy be hardly hit by the Euro crisis.
