New Bugesera International Airport (NBIA) (to open in 2016)
Bugesera Airport will be located in southeastern Rwanda, in Bugesera District, near the town of Nyamata. This location is approximately 24 kilometres (15 mi), by air, south of Kigali International Airport, currently the largest civilian airport of the country.[1] The exact location of the airport is not yet shown on most publicly available maps.[2] Bugesera International Airport will be situated at an altitude of 1,400 metres (4,600 ft) above sea level.
After month of silence, the Governement of Rwanda unveiled the name of the firm that will built the New Bugesera International Airport. According to the East African.co.ke, "the firm which is based in China, is China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC). The firm won the deal expected to cost over $650 million (the budget was several changed). This is the largest investment in Rwanda’s history". HERE

Bugesera International Airport will become Rwanda's largest International Airport, serving commercial flights destined to and from the greater Kigali metropolitan area. [3] When completed, it will become Rwanda's third International Airport, and the country's 8th airport overall. It will complement Kigali International Airport, which is now operating at maximum capacity. The airport will initially have a single paved runway. During the second phase of construction, a second runway will be added. The estimated cost for Phase I is US$450 million, while Phase II is budgeted to cost US$250 million, for a total of US$700 million.[5] It is anticipated that Phase I will be complete by 2016.[6] The British accounting firm Pricewaterhousecoopers, has been retained to oversee the financing of the new airport.[7] Selection of the airport developer will be made in 2012. Construction will begin in 2013 and the first phase is expected to be completed in 2016.[8]
The airport is designed to handle 450 passengers per peak hour and over 1 million annually during its first phase. It will have the capacity to handle 15,500 tonnes of cargo annually with eight flight movement per hour during peak hours.

While the project is facing to some delays (construction will begin in 2013, instead of 2012), due to (probably) the lack of funding, here are two 3D picutres of NBIA. Here an aerial view of the airport.
